Facilities
The Trustees seek to assist the communities of Needham Market and of Barking by the provision of facilities which they consider beneficial. The Charities have provided the following facilities for the communities which comprise their area of benefit:
- Allotments at Quinton Road, Needham Market
- A minibus, operated by the minibus committee in conjunction with Needham Market Community Centre and fully funded by the Charities.
- A grant to the Citizen's Advice Bureau to help fund a specialist in maximising peoples benefits.
- Grants for nursing care to provide cover for the care of elderly, seriously ill or disabled persons.
- Provision of manual wheelchairs for short or long term loan
- Grants to improve community facilities in Needham Market and Barking, particularly at Needham Market Community Centre, Barking Village Hall, the Ark project at the Church Hall at Needham Market Parish Church, Needham Market Bowls Club, Hurstlea Kerridge Boxing Club and Needham Market Internet Cafe.
- The camping land, which forms part of Station Field was, until April 2006, let to Needham Market Town Council on a twenty year lease. The Town Council did not wish to renew the lease. It was used mainly as a football pitch, but is also the site of the scout hut. It is intended that it will be retained as an open recreational and amenity area and discussions have been held with Mid SuffolkDistrict Council concerning the improvement, landscaping and maintenance of the area.
- The Charity also owns an area of land at Creeting St Mary. This is currently let, but it is hoped thatit can eventually be sold for development. Despite the proximity of the site to other new development it has not yet proved possible to include the site in the Mid Suffolk Development Plan, although the realisation of the development value would be of great potential value to our communities.
